WELCOME TO THE DEEPCUT HASH
WHO ARE WE AND
WHAT DO WE DO?
Deepcut H3 is a running club (aka a
smallish group of drinkers with a running problem) based upon the "Hash
House Harriers"; a world wide group formed in Kuala Lumpur in 1938. We
run in the countryside of North Hampshire and West Surrey. All runs take
place on a Wednesday afternoon and are within the bounds of OS Map Sheet
186. A typical turnout is about 12 to 25 runners each trail.
Deepcut H3 first formed in the 1980s, but flagged a few years later. It was
re-formed on 10 March 1998 and has been running every second
Wednesday ever since. The members generally live within the area of
Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire borders, and are of all ages and walks
of life.
Based upon the old style Hare and Hounds, Hashing is a cross country run
(or gambol if you prefer) of around 4 - 6 miles using a trail of flour set by one
or two people beforehand, known as "Hares". The rest of the runners (!)
then attempt to follow the trail trying to find their way home. This
group or searchers are known as the "Hounds".
WHO’S IT FOR?
Young and old can take part, you run (or walk) at your own pace.
Families are very welcome to participate and it’s a great way to
exercise a (reasonably) well-behaved dog.
We try to start and end trails at a pub to work up a thirst and have a
friendly, sociable chat afterwards. Pubs are also rated by the Hashers
on the standard of their chips!
It's a fun activity, and not to be taken at all seriously.
SUBMIT A HASH
Haven't a clue how to lay a hash?
No idea what these funny white things on the ground mean? See the
Mismanagement and offer to
help lay a hash

Mountain
Rescue’s Hare Hints first, if
you still can't get it right you may be sent on the three day course.
Remember the First Rule of
Hashing - There are no rules.
WHEN/WHERE IS
THE NEXT ONE?
We run every
